PREFACE.

During the last fifty years many books on the second coming of Jesus have appeared. Great and good men have given the subject their earnest and extensive study.  The world has been blessed by their lives, studies, and productions.  So many are the books on this subject that no one need live in ignorance concerning it.

The writer of this volume can not remember the time when he first became interested in this great subject.  As far back as my memory can go, I was inquiring, searching, and asking all manner of questions about it.  Though I thus sought for information, the years of maturity found me with but little knowledge concerning it.  However, about the time of my entering the ministry at the age of twenty, I began the study of the subject in earnest.  At this time I gained access to the works of many men who had written on the subject, and by the aid of these, with a careful study of the Scriptures, the fields of prophecy began to break upon my vision.  Fourteen years have passed, and during this time I have given the subject my closest and most extended study, and yet I am only a primary student in this course. Having been asked by hundreds of my friends to put in printed form some knowledge that I have gained of this great subject, and having felt thus led of the Lord, I here venture upon the task.

This book is not put before the public because the writer feels it to be a superior work to those books of kindred theme that have appeared before it.  The writer rather wishes to acknowledge the help he has derived from the study of such

books, and to praise the Lord that men lived and wrote before him.  He, however, gives farther praises to God that He has enabled him to derive many thoughts on the subject from the study of the Word alone.  Much of the matter in this book, therefore, is original with the writer.  While my understanding has been enlightened by reading the writings of others, yet if I bring forth no truth in addition to what others have written, I shall write in vain.  At least, if I bring forth the same truths that others have brought before me, I should be able to bring them forth in a different dress.  This the writer believes he has accomplished in the following pages.

The book is sent forth, therefore, to the world.  With it goes the prayer that it may prove as helpful to thousands of souls as the writings of many good men on this subject have proven to me, and that the blessings that have come to me in writing this book may be given in double portion to each of its readers.       .

Yours looking for His appearing,

G. F. Taylor.
