justice, peace, creation: Eight years of ministry in Bulgaria, focused on education and benevolence; working in a multi-ethnic environment, striving to contribute towards the socio-political, economic and spiritual transformation of the country's profile; initiating humanitarian efforts oriented towards the ethnically and economically marginalized, fighting illiteracy, poverty, religious and ethnic prejudice and providing an environment for hopeful resocialization and reintegration of the ones pressed to the edge of existence. Currently working with the German Benevolence foundation "Samariter Dienst" in bringing humanitarian help into Bulgaria on a continuous basis. In 1998 we established the Bulgarian foundation "Samaritans", which works with street children. The present commitments of the foundation include the operation of a day-center with formal educational programs and daily provision of necessary nutrition for the children. Temporary shelter has been secured for all children in the program, and "Samaritans" has purchased a house which is presently being remodeled to serve as a full-time shelter.

ecumenical: As part of my teaching commitment at the University of Heidelberg, ecumenical issues, questions of intercultural theology and interreligious are an integral part of what I do for work. I also hope that my research on Ethiopian Pentecostalism for my PhD thesis, even though it doesn't have an explicit theological focus, will help to overcome the strong divide between Pentecostal and Orthodox Christians there.
justice, peace, creation: Issues of peace and justice are an important part of the courses I teach on religion in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Next to financial involvement in different projects, I am also part of a group at my church, sensitizing the congregation for issues of global justice, economic deprivation and peace.
comments: I coordinate much of the work of the European Research Network on Global Pentecostalism (GloPent), which is a joint initiative between the Centre for Pentecostal and Charismatic Studies at the Graduate Institute for Theology and Religion at the University of Birmingham, the Hollenweger Center at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and the Department of History of Religions and Mission Studies at the Faculty of Theology, University of Heidelberg.
